A central election issue of the SPD for this legislative period was the creation of a new environment and climate committee.
We want to make the environmental balance of the public infrastructure of the joint municipality and its member municipalities climate neutral in order to make our contribution against further global warming and to climate protection. All measures of the joint municipality are to be checked for environmental and climate compatibility. That is why I have advocated an additional expert committee for environmental and climate protection. This is to ensure sustainable action.

For the newly created committee, it was important for us as the SPD parliamentary group to formulate a clear definition of the committee.
This is now defined as follows:
"In the Environment, Climate Protection and Tourism Committee, all topics dealing with sustainability, nature protection, climate protection, ecology and tourism can be dealt with within the framework of the legal provisions.
The committee makes recommendations to the parliamentary groups, the administration, the SGA and/or the Council. Referral back to a specialist committee is not provided for."

Meeting of the Council of the Joint Municipality of Salzhausen of 11 November 2021
A central demand of our election programme for the municipality of Salzhausen was to create a climate and environment committee. This was unanimously approved at the joint municipality council meeting on 11 November 2021.
The committee is called "Committee for Environment, Climate and Tourism". A clear signal for nature and environmental protection, which the SPD was able to implement at the very first meeting.
Now it's time to get down to work and we sat down together in workshops right at the beginning and worked out the first goals and demands.

Motion to form a Committee for the Environment, Climate Protection and Tourism
Dear Mr Krause.
On behalf of the SPD parliamentary group in the joint municipality, I ask you to submit the following motion to the
Joint Municipality Council for consultation and resolution.
Proposed resolution:
The Salzhausen joint municipality council resolves at its constituent meeting in accordance with § 71
NKomVG in conjunction with § 72 NKomVG, to establish a new committee for the environment, climate and tourism.
