The Committee for Order, Social Affairs and Mobility of the Salzhausen joint municipality met for the first time in the new year on 16 January.

In addition to the formal agenda items (approval of minutes, residents' question time, etc.), there was the following item under item 5: Traffic safety by the volunteer fire brigades of the joint municipality at events; amendment of the Lower Saxony Fire Protection Act (NBrandSchG) There were no further major discussions among the committee members and the following resolution was passed (different from the one deposited in ALLRIS, as there were revisions to the draft resolution by the joint municipality fire chief):

The voluntary fire brigades of the joint municipality of Salzhausen can, in accordance with § 2 Para. 6 of the Nds. fire protection law, take care of traffic control for the protection of municipal events, insofar as the police cannot guarantee protection or cannot do so in time and the tasks of the original danger prevention of the fire brigade are not impaired by this. The existence of this prerequisite is to be examined in each individual case.

Voting result: Unanimous

Under questions and suggestions I asked the following questions:

- When are arbitrators invited to the committee meeting? Background; a year ago we decided in the committee and in the SG Council to pay arbitrators a remuneration. In this context, an arbitrator should be invited to the committee and report on the work. Renewed statement by the administration; will be made at one of the next meetings.

- At the penultimate meeting of the committee, we agreed that the committee meetings should be held alternately in the fire stations of the Salzhausen joint municipality. The administration informed us that the next committee meeting will take place in the fire station of the volunteer fire brigade in Wulfsen. The date has already been booked.

- Refugee accommodation in Garstedt: Last year, I sent the administration and the chairperson of the committee a request to visit this accommodation before today's committee meeting. According to the administration, however, there is no electricity yet, which is why a visit in the evening makes no sense. It is currently unknown when the first refugees will arrive. In the past, Lower Saxony has taken in more refugees than the quota/distribution key provides for. According to the administration, there will be no mixing of refugees in the residential containers. Completion is planned for mid/end of February 2023.

As soon as the protocol is available, you can access it here.
