One point from the election program of the SPD-Hohen-Geest for the Salzhausen joint municipality council is the establishment of a youth council. The goal we want to pursue with this is explained quickly and simply. We are convinced that the youth of today know very well what they want.

The Friday-For-Future movement has clearly shown that young people all over the world are ready to take responsibility and fight for their goal.

Many communities and cities have already taken the step of establishing a youth council and have had good experiences. I wanted to learn more, so I arranged to meet Ben Meisborn tonight for a Zoom meeting. Ben is the chairman of the youth council in Buchholz i.d.N. Despite his young age, Ben knows exactly what he is talking about. We talked about the first steps of the foundation and what has changed since the 1st meeting. Which projects could be successfully initiated and implemented and which projects should be pursued in the future.

During the meeting I became more and more aware of how valuable a youth council is and that we in the Salzhausen joint municipality council should do everything we can to ensure that the SPD's project is supported and realized by all parties. As a convinced social democrat, it is very important to me that every voice is heard.

In November, the newly elected Samtgemeinderat will begin its work. I will keep you informed here about the work, decisions and plans.
